FAQ

Frequently asked questions

1.What is an artisan bread?

We use the word to describe the traditional processes. Artisan bread is full of wheat flavor, ranging from mild and somewhat sweet to tasty and sour. Artisan bread has loads of texture like crunchy, chewy, and soft. Another indication of real artisan bread is that it does not stay fresh for too long because it is made without chemicals or preservatives. Artisan breads have only a few ingredients: water, unbleached flour, salt and yeast or starter in the case of sourdough.

2. What is 100% whole wheat bread?

The word “whole” is critical here: it means that the bran, the germ, and the endosperm of the wheat kernel have all been left intact. The bread is made up totally of wheat grains. It is a healthier choice than wheat bread.

3. What’s the healthiest choice?

Any bread made with 100 percent whole grains, whether it is whole wheat or whole grain, is the most nutritious option. But be careful: just because a label says “whole grain” doesn’t guarantee that the product contains exclusively whole grains.

4.How long will a loaf of bread keep?

While bakery loafs last for two to three days, packaged breads stay fresh for a week or two, and can be frozen for up to three months.

5.What is wheat bread?

Wheat bread should not be confused with whole wheat bread. Wheat bread just means the product is made using wheat flour, which is another term for refined white flour.

6.What is white bread?

Grain kernels are made up of three parts: the fiber-dense bran, the nutrient-rich germ, and the starchy endosperm. White bread is made from wheat kernels that have been processed to remove the bran and the germ, leaving only the endosperm. This results in a lighter texture, flavor, and with fewer nutrients.

7.What is sourdough bread?

Sourdough is a bread made from the natural yeast and bacteria in flour.  In traditional sourdough recipes, we are going to find three ingredients:  sourdough starter that it is flour and water, salt and flour.  There is no yeast, no milk, no oils and no sweeteners.
